Feast of the Sacred Heart

AM+DG

Today is the Feast of the Sacred Heart.

The post today includes:

  1. Selection of  Readings from TLM Mass for today
  2. St Margaret Mary Alacoque’s role
  3. Invocations to the Sacred Heart
  4. Reading from Book of Truth regarding the urgency of these times. As always, Jesus has advice and consolation for us all

The beautiful prayers from the TLM Mass this morning celebrating this beautiful feast, touched me deeply.

Collect
O God, through Your mercy we possess the treasures of Your love in the Sacred Heart of Your Son, the same Sacred Heart which we wounded by our sins. May our honor, devotion, and love make reparation to Him for our faults. Through the same Jesus Christ, our Lord . . .

Alleluia, alleluia! V. Matt. 11:29
Take My yoke upon you, and learn from Me, for I am meek and humble of heart; and you will find rest for your souls. Alleluia!

Offertory Antiphon Ps. 68:21
My heart dreaded reproach and misery, and I looked for someone to sympathize with Me, but there was none. I sought for someone to comfort Me, and I found none.

Secret
O Lord, behold the love in the heart of Your beloved Son, which no tongue can describe. Because of that love, accept our gift as an offering in atonement for our sins. Through the same Jesus Christ, our Lord . . .

Preface
It is truly meet and just, … everlasting God; who didst will that Thine only begotten Son should be pierced by the soldier’s lance as He hung upon the Cross: that from His opened heart, as from a sanctuary of divine bounty, might be poured out upon us streams of mercy and grace; and that in His heart always burning with love for us, the devout may find a haven of rest, and the penitent a refuge of salvation. And therefore with angels and archangels

  1. St Margaret Mary Alacoque’s role

Jesus appeared to St Margaret Mary Alacoque and wanted her to spread devotion to His Sacred Heart. He told her: ” Behold this Heart, which has so loved men, but is so little loved in return.”

St Margaret Mary  knew suffering. She was one of 7 children. Her father died when she was only 8; after which her father’s relatives moved in and treated them as servants. She was bed-ridden for 4 years with a rheumatic affliction.  as a sister in the visitation order, she was kind and humble, but her fellow sisters saw her as clumsy and slow.

Margaret Mary was inspired to establish a Holy Hour from 11 till midnight on the eve of the first Friday of each month in order to share in the mortal sadness He endured when abandoned by His Apostles in His Agony, and to receive Holy Communion on the first Friday of each month.

Jesus appointed the Friday after the octave of Corpus Christi as the feast of the Sacred heart. Jesus called Margaret Mary “the Beloved Disciple of the Sacred heart” and the heiress of all its treasures.

We are encouraged to practice the Nine First Fridays Devotion in reparation to the Sacred Heart

To those who practice this devotion, Jesus promised:

1. “I will give them all the graces necessary in their state of life.”
2. “I will establish peace in their homes.”
3. “I will comfort them in their afflictions.”
4. “I will be their secure refuge during life, and above all in death.
5. “I will bestow a large blessing upon all their undertakings.”

6. “Sinners shall find in My Heart the source and the infinite ocean of mercy.”
7. “Tepid souls shall grow fervent.”
8 “Fervent souls shall quickly mount to high perfection.”
9. “I will bless every place where a picture of My Heart shall be set up and honored.”

10. “I will give to priests the gift of touching the most hardened hearts.”
11. “Those who shall promote this devotion shall have their names written in My Heart, never to be blotted out.”
12.”I promise thee in the excessive mercy of My Heart that My all-powerful love will grant to all those who communicate on the First Friday in nine consecutive months, the grace of final penitence; they shall not die in My disgrace nor without receiving the Sacraments; My Divine heart shall be their safe refuge in this last moment.”

The following First Friday devotions are efficacious in honoring the Sacred Heart of Jesus:

          1. The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass
          2. Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament
          3. Act of Consecration to the Sacred Heart of Jesus
          4. Act of Reparation
          5. The Litany of the Sacred Heart of Jesus
          6. The Sacrament of Reconciliation

This occurred in the 17th century. Today ,much, much more is needed. There is so much more to atone for. Jesus deserves our love and devotion. There are many many more things we can do.

Invocations to the Sacred Heart

Throughout the day there are many short little invocations that we can offer up to Jesus. They just take a few seconds to say.

These are my favourites:

Sweet Heart of Jesus, I implore, that I may love Thee more and more.

Jesus meek and humble of Heart, make my Heart like unto Thine.

Sweet Heart of Jesus, be my Love; Sweet Heart of Mary, be my Salvation.

Heart of Jesus, once in agony, pity the dying.

Heart of Jesus, burning with Love for me, inflame my heart with love for Thee.

Sins are breaking My Sacred Heart

12 November 2010 @ 3:00am ; Message 0005
Write this, My daughter. The hours are ticking. Do not ignore My request to publish My Warning to mankind. There is a need now to repent.  My children must hear My Warning now. My daughter, communicate with Christian groups first to impart My pleas.

Stay strong.  I have chosen you for this Work, so that My pleas for redemption will be heard quickly. Write the Book and communicate My messages, using modern communications, such as the internet and the media. While My request is urgent, I will hold your hand so that you can understand the message.

You are stronger than you think.  Pray to me more daily, My Divine Mercy. Fear not. Why are you so frightened? Eternal life, when heaven and earth merge as one, is to be welcomed.

It is what man has strived for since time began. Don’t be fooled by the attractions that earth has to offer. They pale into insignificance when compared with the splendour of My Father’s Kingdom. You will be sent support as soon as your plan begins to unfold.

These last few days have been overwhelming for you, yet, you have accepted in your heart what I am asking of you. It is difficult and perhaps a little frightening for you to take all of this in, but it is important that you trust in Me.

Hold Me in your heart and lean on Me. Surrender any doubts you have and your task will be easier. You must remind people of My promises and refer to My written Word.

Fall back on Scripture to make sense. Never ever be afraid to remind people how their sins are breaking My Sacred Heart and piercing the soul of My Eternal Father.

We, My Mother and all the saints, will hold your hand and give you strength. You will be sent practical guidance and doors will be opened to help you in your work.

Beware of those who create obstacles to delay you in your communications. Pray for them and move on. I know you are tired, but My request has to be responded to quickly.

It is time for rest now, My child. You are responding well and with faith and courage. Never give up.

Your beloved Saviour
Jesus Christ

Pray this special Litany for the Church today (6th August)

St John Bosco's dream

t. Boniface, an English Benedictine Monk appointed Archbishop, is known as the Apostle of Germany. He was martyred at the age of 79, while on a mission to Holland – attacked and killed by pagans, along with 52 of his companions. He once said:

“In her voyage across the ocean of this world, the Church is like a great ship being pounded by the waves of life’s different stresses. Our duty is not to abandon ship but to keep her on her course.”

Can we agree that the sweeping changes  and demanding call presented in the new Motu Proprio – Traditionis Custodes has caused a “tsunami wave” inside of our Holy Catholic Church threatening to pull much of what we love out to sea?

Cardinal BurkeOn July 22nd, Cardinal Burke issued a statement writing that “Many faithful – laity, ordained and consecrated – have expressed to me the profound distress which the Motu Proprio «Traditionis Custodes» has brought them.”

In a moment, I am going to ask you to join me and Rosary Warriors around the world in reciting a special Litany for the Church in our time. First, let us take a moment to reflect on the words of Cardinal Burke, from a presentation given on July 10th and then take action accordingly:

“Drawn close to the Mother of God who unfailingly takes us to her Divine Son, we must remain serene because of our faith in Christ who will not permit the “gates of hell” to prevail against His Church.[10] Serenity does not mean that we ignore or deny the gravity of the situation in which the world and the Church find themselves. It means rather that we are fully conscious of the seriousness of the situation, while, at the same time, we address all of the needs of the world and the Church to Christ our Savior through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Saint Michael the Archangel, Saint Joseph, and the whole company of the saints.”

Please save the date to join me in answering the desire of His Eminence to pray fervently for Pope Francis, the Bishops and priests by saying the Litany for the Church in Our Time, on this First Friday, August 6th, which is the feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord. When we come together, as one powerful voice crying out to heaven, we know that prayer can change any situation which seems hopeless.

Pray for us, O Holy Mother of God,
That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

Let Us Pray.

Jesus, our God, in these dark hours when Thy Mystical Body is undergoing its own Crucifixion, and when it would almost seem to be abandoned by God the Father, have mercy, we beg of Thee, on Thy suffering Church. Send down upon us the Divine Consoler, to enlighten our minds and strengthen our wills.

Thou, O Second Person of the Most Holy Trinity, Who canst neither deceive nor be deceived, have promised to be with Thy Church until the end of time. Give us a mighty Faith that we may not falter; help us to do Thy Holy Will always, especially during these hours of grief and uncertainty. May Thy Most Sacred Heart and the Immaculate and Sorrowful Heart of Thy Holy Mother be our sure refuge in time and in eternity. Amen.

May we find strength from the company of saints, along with the Blessed Virgin Mary, who gives Comfort to the Afflicted.

Your friend in Christ,

Thomas McKenna
