Fire is burning all around us.
For weeks the fires have been burning – from the north of Australia, to the south. We have had a very dry winter and bushfires are expected in summer, but never to this extent. Summer has not even yet begun! National Geographic described them as “apocalyptic”. A firefighter in Qld. said they were like the “gates of hell”.
The air is full of smoke. It chokes us. we must keep our windows closed. Some people don’t have air conditioning! They absorb a greater amount of suffering for us. Our air quality – usually excellent – is amongst the worst in the world at this time. We have never had so much smoke and smoke haze. The air quality has been rated as hazardous (over 300+). We have had a day or two of reprieve, when the wind cleared the smoke temporarily, but the next day, it is back. The smoke drifted all the way to our neighbouring country, New Zealand!
We can smell the smoke. Is this to remind us of the stench of our sins as a nation – the unthinkable ‘abortion up till birth’ now approved, euthanasia in many states, the gender content in schools, approval of all sorts of pseudo-marriages, the laws against the Seal of Confession … ?
The haze on the sun can be seen from New Zealand!
We’ve had some weird natural experiences lately which my husband and I have both noticed.

- The other day the sky was clear as a bell- cloudless- but we got large drops of rain on us in spatters. He called me out to justify his observations. He’s a non-believer- but he noticed.
- We woke up on Monday at about 4.30am; coughing and choking- with lungs full of smoke; instead of air. You can’t get away from it when it’s all around. The entire atmosphere was filled with it. God gave us smoke to breathe- instead of air! That’s a chastisement. It has implications for what’s ahead.
- The sun appeared bright red. My daughter called it a “blood” sun. With the orange setting background, the glow from the fires and the bright red sun, it seemed the whole world was on fire. Later, there were pictures and videos on Twitter. In the news people reported it as “creepy”, “ominous” and what seemed to be a “terrifying anomaly.”
- A particular Spring afternoon (Friday) became as dark as evening as I left work at 4.30pm. It doesn’t usually get dark till 8pm. Car lights and streetlights were all on. That distorted the sense of time, too. It had an ominous feeling.
- At about 7pm, (the same day) it rained ash and mud on us- and on our cars. The heavy smoke in the atmosphere combined with rain clouds so that we actually experienced ash rain (as opposed to a rain of ash… which we also get when wind blows embers and ash in our direction from a bushfire). We have never seen that- or any of the other phenomena- in our lifetime before.

On top of this, it’s been really hot, but we can’t open the windows for even a little breeze– due to the thick smoke. Sometimes the fire warning conditions are rated as catastrophic due to the combination of intense heat and wind forecast that day; and so, we wait and pray.
The drought came first
We have drought and thereby livestock which are dying or very skinny from lack of food. Many farm
ers have had to sell any livestock they still have, to the abattoirs. Fruit and produce die without water and they can’t even buy enough (or in some cases any) water to help. Our Farmers’ livelihoods are disappearing due to lack of rain. Many have had to sell their farms after generations on the land. Some have committed suicide.
Drinking water is low too.
Our main dam “Warragamba” has always managed to be sufficient for the Sydney Metro area, but it is down to 45% capacity. We are on water restrictions. In a few weeks we won’t be allowed to water our plants, except by hand and bucket. In the outback, water in our main river which flows throughout western NSW, Vic and Sth Australia has stopped flowing. During the winter there have been schools of dead fish in areas and the Murrumbidgee Irrigation Area is at risk.
We are praying for rain.
Last time, we were close to this, it rained and rained and soon our dam was full again. But we never got to the watering with a bucket stage. When we do get a few drops, it doesn’t rain over the dam catchment area. If we get rain after this, I am afraid that it might be in the form of catastrophic flooding.

At least our clergy recognize our need and have turned to God. A special prayer has been organized to say in all parishes. But we still have the horrible laws which have been enacted, which have invoked God’s wrath.
“Eternal Father, in wisdom and love,
You created our earth to sustain us and give us life.

asking You to look with favour on our drought-stricken land, on our starving animals, on our failing crops.
Strengthen, sustain and give new heart to out farmers and to all who are affected by this drought, be with those who support them. In Your loving providence send abundant rain and restore our parched earth.

Imagine what it will be like when this choking smoke covers the whole earth, as 1/3 of it burns? If you don’t enjoy it now, why would you think that hell might be ‘fun’ and one big party? Some people are very deluded. Remind them of this day. Remind them so that they fear hell and take it seriously. Some fires cannot even be controlled by fire-fighters. But there is but one fire that is everlasting and brings everlasting regret, pain, anguish and suffering. You don’t want to be there.

When man is cleared of his arrogance, his belief in his own greatness and the mistaken belief that his power is greater than God’s, then only through such purification can he be made fit to stand before God. ‘ (13 Feb. 2013)
“The sins of the evil one will be glorified and as man finds himself sucked into this madness, the world will be shown the floods of wrath as My Father sweeps away many parts of many countries. Floods will be commonplace and you will know which parts of the world anger My Father the most, when the waters pour down in anger upon nations. … Pray for Mercy- those of you who may be caught up in these chastisements. “The final insult against My Father, through the sin of war and abortion, will draw down His greatest punishment upon humanity. The life of the unborn child, taken away so cruelly, and without remorse, will be punishable by death of the body and death of the soul.” (7 May 2013)
In the messages of Book of Truth, we are given a prayer for the mitigation of chastisements. Remember, that Jesus told us that these prayers were thirty-fold more powerful than other prayers. And He asked us to pray them specifically for these times.

O dear Father, God the Most High, we, your poor children, prostrate ourselves before Your Glorious Throne in Heaven. We beg You to rid the world of evil. We implore Your Mercy for the souls of those who cause terrible hardships to Your children on earth. Please forgive them. Please remove the antichrist, as soon as he makes himself known. We ask You, dear Lord, to mitigate Your Hand of chastisement. Instead, we beg You to accept our prayers and our sufferings, to ease the suffering of Your children, at this time.
We trust You. We honour You. We thank You for the great sacrifice you made when you sent Your only Son, Jesus Christ, to save us from sin. We welcome Your Son, once again, as the Saviour of humanity. Please protect us. Keep us from harm. Help our families. Have Mercy on us. Amen.
When the fires burn all around us, all over the world at once, it will be truly awful. This is just a foretaste.
