Demonizing Cardinal Pell

When I heard the news at work that Cardinal Pell’s appeal had been rejected, I was in shock. We received a temporary reprieve (in NSW, Australia) against the abortion law passing through the Upper House. It was not a win but it was a relief. We cried tears of relief momentarily  but we know the fight is not yet over. The news about Pell was a blow.

Nothing much cuts closer to the bone than an innocent child being murdered by his own blood, an innocent child being sexually abused or an innocent man being sent to suffer in gaol and demonized for sins he didn’t commit. Not that this is the first time in history that this has happened. But Cardinal Pell is our brother in Christ, as are all those suffering little children- who belong to their Heavenly Father. How great must be God’s anger and sadness! Since Wednesday we have been in grieving. there is no other way to explain what we have been feeling.

We just couldn’t bring ourselves to write anything that day.

On Thursday, my mum wondered “What would it take to establish that Cardinal Pell has been demonized?” The reason she considered that is because in every way we can think of, he fits a particular prophecy…

The prophecy has three distinct elements:

– a bishop is the subject of a terrible miscarriage of justice

– he is demonized

-laws pertaining to the Church are then changed and other sacred servants persecuted if they dare object

Lord, God is this prophecy about him?

We have false accusations, an unfair trial where key evidence was not allowed, countless articles and news stories including stories & interviews on main news and current affair channels, books written against him, plenty of people calling him evil and baying for blood and then a ‘terrible miscarriage of justice’ which sees Cardinal Pell convicted of the most abhorrent of crimes. Those who are disgusted by the deliberate process of destroying the Cardinal and his reputation (including independent news journalists) have actually described what has happened and even used the exact term  stating that he has “been demonized.”

As if that proof wasn’t enough, the next morning (Friday) I awoke to what seems like the perfect proofin a glaringly visible form- of both Cardinal Pell’s deliberate demonisation AND the link it will have to the passing of the new law in Victoria which forces priests to break the Seal of Confession.

I wrote to mum:

Hi Mum

You have to read the article and include this bit as proof of demonisation and the change in law.
We all know that Pell was not even accused of abusing boys in the confessional. And yet in this article it mentions a horrible cartoon where the two ideas are clearly connected. To me this is the most clear proof of the prophecy being about him.
“Yet I doubt there will be any backlash against The Australian, the country’s leading center-right newspaper, for the equally vile cartoon it published on the day Cardinal Pell’s appeal was rejected. It shows a priest with horns and a goatee hiding in a confessional, which is covered with a massive zipper, as on a pair of men’s trousers. It’s true: anti-Catholicism really is the last acceptable prejudice.”

Here is the cartoon published the same day as Cardinal Pell’s appeal was rejected:

Vile Cartoon

When we first read this prophecy, in 2014, we wondered with horror, who this would apply to. Would it be Pope Benedict? Then, as stories and news articles began to vilify Cardinal Pell, the man who stood against injustice and for Truth, we wondered whether it would be about him.

My most esteemed Bishop will be the subject of a terrible miscarriage of justice

My dearly beloved daughter, how My Heart is breaking because of the plight of My sacred servants and the difficult trials which they will have to face because of My enemies. My most esteemed Bishop will be the subject of a terrible miscarriage of Justice. Then, when he has been demonized, many of My sacred servants will be taken to task, should they dare to utter grievances against the new laws, which are not of Me and which they will have to witness being introduced into My Churches.

Pray for Cardinal Pell: a white martyr.

On Friday morning before work, I did just this. I was offering him in prayer, knowing how patiently he has reassured his flock that he is offering his ‘little sufferings’ joined to Jesus. And, in great sorrow, as I prayed the Sorrowful Mysteries of the Rosary, praying for Cardinal Pell, contemplating Our Crucified Lord, tears flowing down my cheeks, a thought flew in to my head, coming from nowhere, (as if sent by my angel) :

“He is suffering for the sins of The Church, which are not his own.”

And my next thought was “Just like Jesus willingly suffered for the sins of others… and was also condemned and arrested although an innocent man”. Cardinal Pell is not the first to suffer for the sins of others.

Jesus did ask some of his first bishops, James and John: “Can you drink the cup I am going to drink?” (Matthew 20: 22) And he reminded us all to take up our cross and follow Him.

I know Cardinal Pell willingly came back to Australia to face the trial although he could have had diplomatic immunity in the Vatican State, because he knew he was innocent. He accepted his original  false conviction and sentencing saying ” if Jesus wills it, I will accept it”.  I know he willingly offers up his sufferings for the Church as seen in his recent letter.

I pray for the appeal to the High Court to exonerate him but I don’t trust this will happen. I pray for him in gaol and for his strengthening. I pray he dies in a state of grace and when he dies, I will pray for his soul. I also pray for that of his accuser.

I will be able to ask for St. George Pell’s saintly intercession- in the affairs of the Church and for all the abused and especially for his colleagues who are priestly abusers.

I ask St. Gerard Majella now to intercede for all concerned now and for Blessed Mother to console her son.

JMJ pray 4 us.

Do you know why he is being persecuted?

Defender of Church Doctrine:

An article on  Friday, April 22, 2016 stated:

  • “There was puzzlement in Rome about the appointment of Cardinal Pell to the Curia. The most credible explanation seems that Pope Francis thus, made the same attempt as that made by the Pope John Paul II with Walter Kasper:  Push back his influence in the home country by transportation and involve him in the papal agendaBut the Australian cardinal moved to Rome not of his convictions and proved in the Synod of Bishops as very staunch defender of Catholic marriage and morality.  At the Synod in 2014, he continued his defense against the Kasper theses, although his microphone  had been turned off by the Synod  against the rules of procedure” See the article at: http://eponymousflower.blogspot.com.au/2016/04/shot-across-bow-for-cardinal-pell-non.html

  • In an interview reported in Catholic World Report  on 20 Oct. 2015, Australia’s Cardinal Pell stated that, in a universal church, doctrine does not change from one country to the next . “You cannot have two people in the same situation with the same dispositions; one goes to Communion and it (is) a sacrilege and in the country next-door it is a cause of grace,” …“‘Catholic’ means ‘universal,’ not ‘continental,’” he said.”

He stood up against manipulation at the Synod.

  • He thumped his fist on the table (after they disconnected his microphone) and boomed “Stop manipulating this Synod!”
  • He was one of the 13 cardinals who wrote a letter to PF respectfully questioning proceedings. Cardinal Pell was the one who presented the letter to the pf. Read here about the pf’s reaction. See
“The 13 Cardinals’ Letter is the most powerful accusation made … against any other pontificate”   by Remnant Clergy    18 Oct. 2015
  • When critics started condemning the 4 cardinals and their Dubia , Cardinal Pell said: “How can it be  wrong to ask a question?”
  • He has spoke against liberal interpretations of Amoris Laetoitia . He is a staunch defender of The Faith and marriage.
  • He tried to reform Vatican finances as instructed and was strangely curtailed.
  • He was removed (along with Card Burke and other faithful clergy) from the Vatican’s Congregation for Divine Worship, the body in charge of liturgical questions. See: http://www.catholicculture.org/news/headlines/index.cfm?storyid=29774
  • He is not anti-traditional either, as far as celebrating Mass. In the Sydney diocese, he performed Confirmations for the Traditional Latin Mass community.

Courage and integrity stand out in his character.

When he was Archbishop of Melbourne, he wanted to reform the Religious Education curriculum in Catholic schools. He was told that if he did this, they (the whole board) would resign. He told them to go ahead then- and they did!

Years ago, in the Sydney Diocese, he made headlines in the newspaper because he refused to give Communion to a practising homosexual.

In his defence:

(From Special to Crux April 26, 2016)

“…Robert Hennesy-Hawks, 74, now retired and living in the Australian state of Queensland, was a financial adviser in Ballarat at the time Pell was a priest there, and vigorously defended him.

“As someone who was actually in Ballarat at the same time as Cardinal George Pell, distinct from many outspoken critics, the assertion that he ‘must have known what was going on’ is dubious,” Hawks has written.

“During this period I was running a business in Ballarat and in contact with a large number of businesses, families, and most legal and accounting firms in Ballarat and surrounding areas,” Hawks said. I had five children in the Catholic School system… and I was also serving as a Justice of the Peace, with a particular involvement with the child protection authority.

“Yet at no time was my wife or I or our children or to the best of our knowledge our friends, aware of the slightest rumour of child sexual abuse in the Ballarat area,” he said.

Hennesy-Hawks also rejected the idea that Pell should have taken action in the case of a notorious abuser priest named Gerald Ridsdale, who served in Ballarat.

Pell at that time was a 28-year-old junior priest, recently returned from studying at Oxford University, not involved in parish duties, but completely immersed in his very demanding role at Aquinas College, as it transformed from a Catholic Teachers College to a University,” Hennesy-Hawks said.

He insisted that later as an archbishop, Pell did take actionas soon as he had the power and authority to do so.”

Andrew Bolt, an agnostic political commentator on radio and television who recently did a one-hour interview with Pell on Sky News, declared himself appalled at the way the Royal Commission seemed to presume Pell’s guilt.

In another piece, Bolt called Pell “the victim of one of the most vicious witch hunts to disgrace this country,” describing the process as “shameful, disgusting, and frightening.”

Kenneth Wiltshire, a professor of public administration at the University of Queensland Business School, suggested that going after Pell now for things that allegedly occurred fifty years ago is legally dubious, in a letter that he wrote to The Australian newspaper, on March 5.

“Expecting witnesses to answer in detail for events that occurred half a century ago is jeopardous, even when there is access to diaries and other records,” he wrote.

“In this context, it seems grossly unfair for counsel to challenge recollections of events as if they occurred yesterday,” he wrote, “demanding to know what words were used in a particular conversation on a particular day decades ago, or to imply that failure to remember is a failure to assist the commission.”

Anne Lastman, a columnist for the Australian journals of current affairs News Weekly, suggested Pell is being turned into a “scapegoat.”

“As we watched the proceedings from Rome, it became obvious that truth was not the goal, but a mere side-issue,” she wrote….”

The trial-by-media has already concluded. Public opinon, which does not concern itself with the niceties of the legal process, has already reached a verdict. The cardinal has been found guilty, before he even made his defense—indeed, before the actual charges were made public….

The very public trial of Cardinal Pell is a frightening spectacle, a reminder of how difficult it is to preserve the rights of someone who is accused of a heinous crime, and how easy it is for rumors to ruin a reputation. Let’s pray for a prompt, fair hearing and a clear, just result.” See his complete article at: https://www.catholicculture.org/commentary/the-city-gates.cfm?id=1470

In conclusion:

Pell is a danger to modernist evil plans. Even if he goes free (which he won’t) his name will have been irreparably slandered. He will suffer for The Lord’s sake.

Pray for him to be consoled by Jesus Christ in this, to have courage and not lose faith or hope. Pray through St. Gerard Majella- especially for his false accusers.

We stand with you Cardinal Pell. This sad and wrongful accusation has been prophesied. We believe your innocence and we pray for you!
