Cardinal Pell – “may the holy angels escort you to Paradise.”

AM+DG

Today is a sad day. I heard this morning of the sudden death of our dearly beloved Cardinal.

Because of certain events in his story, on hearing this news I was suspicious. But it seems that he had a cardiac arrest after surgery, whilst chatting to the Dr. The last public statement I read about him was his tribute to Pope Benedict XVI after his death

Cardinal Pell was out much loved (and hated by some) Cardinal. He was a faithful disciple of Jesus. He always told the Truth, even though this was not always welcome. It was bitter sweet, that, after he was cleared of all charges, that he went back to Rome.

His 3 volumes of his memoirs in prison are compelling reading.  See Cardinal Pell’s  story (and prophecy about him) here:

Our website has many articles about the cardinal. Some of them include:

  • Are the prophecies True? 22. “…Terrible miscarriage of justice…”

This story reveals the prophecy, and all the events involved. It , including the Vatican finances he was asked to sort out. It was when he had asked for a world-renowned Audit company to get involved, that the charges against him suddenly appeared. Read about these charges and how his case was mysteriously a copycat of another one in America .

Paul Collits, on his substack writes:

“On George Pell – A Personal Reflection

Jan. 11, 2023

“Following the sudden death of Cardinal Pell, innocent of all charges against him are now at eternal rest, I am republishing one of my many articles on the Cardinal (July 2020). I have written over fifty thousand words on his trials, Victoria Police, Louise Milligan and related subjects. Many of these are freely available at The Freedoms Project and at Quadrant Online. Requiescat in pace.

Now the dust has settled.  All the protagonists have had their say following the Holy Week exoneration of George Cardinal Pell by the High Court of Australia.

Victims groups released their statements, tinged with bitterness.  Supporters of justice for all, like Frank Brennan, drew their legal conclusions.  Politicians now utterly consumed with their own, other, crises, like Daniel Andrews, got their little jibes in.  Julia Gillard, whose half billion dollar Royal Commission had finally been shown to have missed its primary mark, mumbled something or other faintly to console the victims industry, now aggrieved afresh.

The chief media prosecutors, …

Scott Morrison said nought.

Despite the conspicuous and ringing endorsements the Cardinal had earlier received from two of Morrison’s eminently more worthy predecessors, Tony Abbott (a Catholic) and John Howard (not a Catholic).

Cardinal Pell granted an exclusive interview, no doubt watched by millions, to Andrew Bolt, one of the Cardinal’s most vigorous supporters out of season.  Bolt is used to abuse from his many opponents, so no problem there.  He had a great platform and he used it to the max.

Bolt was not the Cardinal’s only persistent supporter in the mainstream media.  But there were not many.  …  Keith Windschuttle at Quadrant broke new stories on the case – like the connection with the Billy Doe case in the USA – and provided rigorous insights on all sorts of issues related to the “evidence” of the case.

Others writing at Quadrant supplied some of the bits missing from the mainstream media.  Like Professor John Finnis.  A previously unknown theological researcher in remote Wales called Christopher Friel emerged from nowhere, and wrote over one hundred forensically researched essays on the Pell case.  His insights were incredible, really.  He totally broke the story of Lyndsay Farlow and unlocked the twitterati’s conspiracy to get Pell.  This was astonishing journalism, to say the very least. https://quadrant.org.au/magazine/2019/06/the-social-media-witch-hunt-for-george-pell/

Another figure from Pell’s past, the indefatigable John Macaulay, contributed much intel to the international Catholic media, especially to EWTN.  ….  One figure stands out, though.  … George Weigel, Pope John Paul II’s biographer and a compelling truth teller.  Writing mainly at First Things, he prosecuted two cases.  One was that his old friend George Pell was innocent, and absurdly charged with offences unthinkable to us all, including to Pell himself.  The second was that the whole charade had put Australian justice on trial in the international court of public opinion.  He was a strategic supporter of Pell, decidedly out of season as well.

I have argued before that the broad Pell (small d) defence team had two objectives, and four strategies.  The two objectives were to get him out of gaol, and to restore his decimated reputation.  The four strategies were – prayer, public witness, communication with the Cardinal, and monetary contributions to his legal defence.

First, Cardinal Pell received thousands of letters of support while he was in gaol, and these expressions of faith must have deeply affected the Cardinal.  Just as the apparent expressions of support and connection for him from fellow prisoners must have provided much needed reassurance during his dark days of solitary confinement Even though he routinely reported to his friends that prison was merely an elongated “retreat”.   …

The American journal First Things, such a defiant source of international support for the Cardinal,  has ongoing significance in the Pell story, post-exoneration.  For the Cardinal has just recently published in First Things a reflection on his time in prison. https://www.firstthings.com/article/2020/08/my-time-in-prison

Fr Fessio of Ignatius Press has predicted that the Cardinal’s book on his time in prison will prove to be a “spiritual classic”.    …

The Cardinal had allies in prison, including the prison boss who urged him to continue with his legal appeals when he himself doubted their value.  Astonishing.

The Cardinal concluded:

My Catholic faith sustained me, especially the understanding that my suffering need not be pointless but could be united with Christ Our Lord’s. I never felt abandoned, knowing that the Lord was with me—even as I didn’t understand what he was doing for most of the thirteen months. For many years, I had told the suffering and disturbed that the Son of God, too, had trials on this earth, and now I myself was consoled by this fact. So, I prayed for friends and foes, for my supporters and my family, for the victims of sexual abuse, and for my fellow prisoners and the warders.  …

Cardinal Pell is a pragmatic pastor and a pragmatic thinker.  He is a serious intellectual, of course, what with his Oxford doctorate and his many spiritual tomes such as God and Caesar, Test Everything and Contemplating Christ Through Luke, and his reflections on prominent twentieth century Catholic philosophers like Elizabeth Anscombe, who he knew personally.

But Pell’s spiritual writings and his thinking are infused with a down-to-earth Aussie realism and groundednessHis homilies, as evidenced by his Be Not Afraid, inevitably reflect a rare combination of the spiritual, the reflective and the practical.

His engagement with the earthly issues of the day, of course, have caused him grief with the elite worthies who played such an active and vindictive active part in the attempt to crucify him. …

His rise to number three in the Vatican confirmed Pell’s gravitas and his international reputation as a serious player in the Church.  His appointment by a new pope (Francis) with whom he might not have been seen as a natural theological ally only confirmed his reputation as a can-do, reforming truth-teller.  (He was given the assignment to clean up the Vatican’s notoriously corrupt finances.  An assignment he assiduously accepted and proceeded to execute, only to be thwarted by what some have argued was a Vatican-Victorian police joint operation

…

What we now have unleashed is not an ageing prelate bent on revenge against his many enemies and on personal vindication, but rather a deeply reflective pastor and spiritual giant of a man concerned to live out his remaining life in service of his God and of truth, leavened by endless compassion.

Not a bad model for those of us afflicted with far lesser burdens”

There is no doubt that he was a (white) martyr, especially considering the prophecy which could only apply to him. No other bishop has been so badly treated and maligned.

He bore it all with patience and Faith.

He loved Our Lord .

He was a saintly man.

He has been taken to his reward.

Please pray for his soul. +++

Today is the 13th March.

The day that Bergoglio came to the throne of St Peter.

That was a sad day, and today is a sad day.

It is the day that our very dear Cardinal George Pell, after being convicted of a crime of which he is innocent, – at a trial in which there was no substantiating evidence of the crime, at a trial on which was placed a gag order for the media, at a trial in which the accuser ‘s evidence was private, at a trial which made a mockery of Australia’s justice system – was sentenced for his supposed crimes.

An Archbishop in this country “told a congregation on the first Sunday after the convictions were made public that they should withhold judgment on Pell until the appeal. If we are too quick to judge, we can end up joining the demonizers or the apologists, those baying for blood or those in denial

“Pell was found guilty beyond reasonable doubt on the uncorroborated evidence of one witness, without forensic evidence, a pattern of behavior or a confession,” veteran crime reporter John Silvester wrote in Melbourne’s The Age newspaper.

“Pell has become a lightning rod on the worldwide storm of anger at a systemic cover-up of priestly abuses. But that doesn’t make him a child molester,” Silvester added.

George Pell prayer day cancelled after backlash

According to a report by SBS News, the prayer day at the Nazareth House Chapel in Camberwell has been cancelled after a flyer advertising the event was shared on social media.

The hate frenzy that has been lashed up by the media makes no sense. It is palpable and scary. Many high-ranking people and well known journalists have risked their reputation and standing to vouch for him. (See previous posts at: https://remnantdisciplesjtm.com/2019/03/06/cardinal-pell-the-story-and-the-prophecy/  )

With regards to the attempt for the prayer service (as described above) for Cardinal Pell, there is nothing stopping us from requesting Masses from our own local priests to be said for Cardinal Pell, or gathering a group of people  – perhaps quietly though: “ “Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves” (Matthew 10:16)

The media frenzy is so bad that one Tv channel had Live coverage of the sentencing. The news papers had been promoting the fact that he could get 50 years – 10 years for each charge.

Some Journalists have described the trial as a  ‘witch-hunt’, and described Cardinal Pell as ascapegoat’ and as a ‘lamb to the slaughter’.

There was Another Who was hated and treated cruelly because He spoke the Truth; Who had false accusations made against Him. He was One Whom the crowd at that time too, had been whipped up into a hate frenzy and turned against Him – a crowd who called for His death; and Who was treated like a criminal; Who chose a murderer to be set free above Him; One Who had committed no crime.

There was also another case against a bishop in another state – he too was found guilty of covering up, but on appeal was found innocent. In the meantime, the pope had forced him to resign. He has not been re-instated. And there are other cases round the world.

As it turns out, the sentence was not as harsh as many wished.

        • George Pell has been sentenced to six years’ jail, with a non-parole period of three years and eight months.
        •  Even though, his appeal has not been heard, he was forced to sign   the sex offenders register.
        • He can apply for parole in October 2022.

Regardless though, his character has been tarnished and he has been “demonised” as referred to by Jesus in a prophecy by Jesus in April 2014:

“…, how My Heart is breaking because of the plight of My sacred servants and the difficult trials which they will have to face because of My enemies. My most esteemed Bishop will be the subject of a terrible miscarriage of Justice. Then, when he has been demonized, many of My sacred servants will be taken to task, should they dare to utter grievances against the new laws, which are not of Me and which they will have to witness being introduced into My Churches.” (Book of Truth April 10, 2014 @ 5:22pm).

This prophecy will be totally fulfilled when the new laws will be introduced into the churches as a result of this court case.

Today, the appeal will be commenced. Please pray that God finds him a good and brave lawyer to present the appeal, and that good judges sit on the appeal panel.

The Cardinal Pell case is important to us all. In times of persecution, we need martyrs. Cardinal Pell is no doubt a martyr – not a blood martyr but a ‘white’ martyr. His demeanour – his inner peace, and dignity – stand out throughout it all.

Let’s not stop praying for him during the next few months. We can make many spiritual bouquets for him to offer to our Heavenly father, and encourage others – in our prayer groups,  in our local parishes, our families and friends – to do likewise.

Rosaries, Chaplets of Divine Mercy, Decades of Rosary, Rosary of Sorrows of Our Lady, Masses, little sufferings offered up, penances, fasting…

And let’s not forget to ask our Blessed Mother Queen of the Clergy, Cardinal Pell’s  Guardian Angel, and St Michael to protect him during his time in gaol.

Cardinal Pell – the story and the prophecy

See Part 1 published 2017https://remnantdisciplesjtm.com/2017/06/30/cardinal-george-pell-is-this-prophecy-about-him/

Cardinal Pell -Conducting an  Ordination in 2011 at St. Mary’s Cathedral

The prophecy:

“My dearly beloved daughter, how My Heart is breaking because of the plight of My sacred servants and the difficult trials which they will have to face because of My enemies. My most esteemed Bishop will be the subject of a terrible miscarriage of Justice. Then, when he has been demonized, many of My sacred servants will be taken to task, should they dare to utter grievances against the new laws, which are not of Me and which they will have to witness being introduced into My Churches. (April 10, 2014 @ 5:22pm).
++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Cardinal Pell’s conviction fulfils this prophecy on many levels.

  • Firstly, it is plausible that he is a most esteemed bishop because he has always striven for Truth, honesty and justice and to be faithful to the Teachings of the Church.
  • Secondly, it is clear that a “terrible miscarriage of justice” is highly likely to have taken place.
  • Thirdly, he was demonised even before the trial through books such as “The Rise and Fall of George Pell” by Louise Milligan and a vilification campaign run by Fairfax media group in both newspapers and on free to air public TV:
For example:
  • the documentary “The Bell Tolls” 2015 aired on 60minutes,
  •  “Loss of Faith” 2002 on same show and
  •  frequent Fairfax media headlines assumed guilt well before he was even on charges that actually held
The end of the paragraph speaks of “new laws”. As a result of years of media demonising of such a Senior Australian Catholic Church figure, and the coming out of true allegations of child abuse in other churches, the 5 year Royal Commission into Child Abuse in Australia recommended that the Sacrament of Confessional Seal will be subject to a new law which was brought in by the government but directly affected churches: the mandatory reporting of child abuse even when revealed in Confession. This law was announced last year but was due to begin operating by end of March this year. And I imagine, there will be many other laws foisted upon us. It’s a bit coincidental that all this happened around the same time as Pell’s conviction.
Some people might have a problem with the fact that the prophecy uses the word “Bishop” not “Cardinal”. I just thought that all cardinals are bishops first. But I found out that a bishop is an apostolic spiritual charism given by Jesus himself to Peter and the 12 apostles, and handed down through apostolic succession.
They have the charism to make priests , other bishops, and do confirmation, to approve exorcisms etc. A Cardinal is a man-made administrative designation only. There was no such thing as cardinals until the 6th century, and there is no handing down.
The prophecy fits Cardinal Pell and the surrounding circumstances, like a glove. There is no other bishop that quite fits the details of this prophecy in this way, although many priests have been mistreated. We can well imagine that Jesus’ heart would be breaking over the plight of many of his sacred servants at this time and the difficult trials they are facing- in so many ways. Therefore the timing and context also is perfect.

Why Pell was a target:

  • Read our post of 2 years ago when we first connected the dots of this prophecy (see link at top of page)

  •  13 Cardinals’ letter at the synod of 2014; his dealings as Bishop in Melbourne and the Catholic Educ. office,…

  • and also

“… Cardinal George Pell is the most repellant person imaginable to the so-called ‘lavender mafia’ of powerful left-wing gay bishops in Rome.

Pell is the feisty, plain-spoken son of a heavyweight boxer; he has a track record of financial prudence and he championed the cause of abuse victims long before Rome took the problem seriously. In short, he’s everything the progressive Left and the corrupt Roman curia hate.

And boy, did he make enemies when Pope Francis appointed him to reform the Vatican Bank, one of the most cataclysmically mismanaged financial institutions in the world.

Pell was brought in because he almost single-handedly rescued the Sydney and Melbourne dioceses from bankruptcy, but, as he began to unravel the multi-billion dollar corruption and venality in Rome, he was abruptly– conveniently, you might say – summoned back to Australia to defend himself against sex abuse charges.

The moment he left the Vatican, his bank reforms stalled, and the sinister forces controlling the Catholic church seized the reins again….”

(By well known author Milo Yianopoulos)
  •  In April, 2016, after Pell had engaged the well known auditors of Price, Watwerhouse Cooper to conduct an internal audit, it was announced by the Vatican that these proceedings had been halted and the authority issued by Pell had been revoked.Edward Pentin, a Vatican journalist for the  National Catholic Register, said: “It’s becoming clear that the rigour of the audit in an effort to raise its financial transparency to international standards is unnerving some in the Vatican. From: http://www.theguardian.com/world/2016/apr/2 (as above)
  • Another example is that the Victorian police put an ad. in the newspaper in March 2013 asking for anyone who wants to complain about anything that may have happened at Melbourne Cathedral. There were no complaints as yet.
By Oct 2016, complainants had come forward. Most of the charges were dismissed  – Cardinal Pell was overseas, or living in another town to where the supposed incident took place, etc. They  were out to get him by hook or by crook.
In October 2016, “It was also revealed that Cardinal Pell had asked for the complainants’ police statements before being interviewed by police…”

The date of the prophecy:

April 2014 – By this time it had been reported that Pell  had discovered the stash of unaccounted for money in the Vatican Bank and called in the highly respected Price- Waterhouse auditors to investigate it. The pope pulled the reins and dismissed the auditors without telling Pell. Two months later he was back in Sydney answering charges.
It seems probable that Pell had discovered something that he was not supposed to. And by October of that year, there were complaints against him.

The guilty verdict.

Every piece of evidence by the prosecution was countered by the  defence. There was no case to answer. Yet the jury unanimously found him guilty . This was the 2nd trial. The first trial was a hung jury with 10 out of the 12 jurors wanting acquittal.

When they said he was going to gaol, he told friends that he was going on “retreat”. People commented on his calm and peaceful demeanour. One journalist said  he was a scapegoat for the sins of the Church; and another described him as “a lamb to the slaughter.” One blogger claims that Cardinal Pell said, “If Jesus wills it, I will accept it.”

Our Bible Reading at our JtM Crusade  Prayer group the next day after the news broke:

“The Beheading of St John the Baptist” We thought that lots of it could be applied to Cardinal Pell. Read it at: https://remnantdisciplesjtm.com/2019/03/05/jtm-crusade-prayer-meeting-thurs-28-feb-2019/

Support for Cardinal Pell:

As soon as the media gag order was removed and Cardinal Pell’s guilty verdict was made public, there was an outcry from people who had a lot to lose – their public positions, their prominent standing in our society. On the other hand there was a definite “blood-lust” and anger from most of the media.

People who spoke up for him after the verdict included:

Former Prime Ministers   –

  • Tony Abbott (a Catholic) and
  • John Howard (Anglican) who praised the man and his character.

Secular journalists            –

  • Miranda Devine (catholic) who often writes about fishy goings  on  at the Vatican and
  • Andrew Bolt – self-acclaimed agnostic
  • Australian Jesuit priest Fr. Frank Brennan expressed shock at news of the conviction. He himself had many views on the other side of the spectrum to Cardinal Pell.
  • Alan Jones – well known talk-back radio host spoke to a priest who explained the impossibility of what was claimed.
  • George Weigel -, John Paul II’s biographer, and  distinguished Senior Fellow of Washington, D.C.’s Ethics and Public Policy Center, where he holds the William E. Simon Chair in Catholic Studies.
  • Raymond Arroyo on EWTN
  • Father Raymond J. de Souza who is the editor in chief of Convivium magazine.
  • Milo Yiannopoulos – well known author of a book on Vatican corruption.

On  February 28, 2019, LifeSiteNews reported that: “A number of commentators have denounced Cardinal George Pell’s prosecution and conviction of sexual assault as an anti-Catholic witch hunt instigated by media and police.”

Please pray for Cardinal Pell – for the success of the appeal , which could take months. Technically he can’t lose, but these are not normal times and evil forces abound.

Our Lady Help of Christians – Patroness of Australia, pray for Cardinal Pell.

Keep him under your holy mantle for protection and consolation. Amen.

‘Nothing is covered that shall not be revealed,

nor hidden that shall not be known.’ (Matt 10:26)

Comment: There are many articles containing the details of the trial and the evidence. The people listed above are good sources of information.
